MOONLESS SKY I Came to Party

Moonless Sky Wins Fran’s Valentine (Benoit Photo)

From Santa Anita Publicity ARCADIA, Calif. (May 21, 2017)–Although beaten 2 ¼ lengths, fast improving Moonless Sky was awarded the win via a stewards’ disqualification in Sunday’s $125,000 Fran’s Valentine Stakes for Golden State Series eligible fillies and mares at Santa Anita. Trained by Eddie Truman and ridden by Kent Desormeaux, the 4-year-old California-bred daughter of Bold Chieftain got a mile on grass in 1:33.57.

In winning, 4-year-old Moonless Sky, who was originally based in south Florida, is now a perfect three for three in Truman’s barn and in addition to picking up her first stakes victory, she also provided her California-based sire Bold Chieftain with his first stakes winner as a stallion. She was bred by Willow Tree Farm.

Ridden by Flavien Prat, favored Pacific Heat, who rallied from last at the quarter pole, ducked in a furlong out, causing Moonless Sky, who appeared full of run, to break stride. Although impeded, Moonless Sky kept to her task, finishing second, a half length in front of Roo’s Valentine.

The IGH programme is a unique and innovative scheme run by the Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy (TVWLA), Health Education England.

It recruits volunteers from the NHS who are awarded a Fellowship and are known as IGH Fellows; each IGH Fellow completes a placement for6 months working with an Overseas Partner in a resource-poor setting. Drawn from all staff groups, the IGH programme enablesvolunteers to develop leadership skills through project work using system-strengthening methods. The projects, based ina number of overseas locations, contribute to improving healthcare in the local area in a sustainable way. Applicants are usually early to mid career.

Programme Aims

Programme commitment

Fellows undertake a 6 month placement. The scheme is divided into 4 phases:

Thoseappointed to the IGH programme are required to attend two induction days prior to placement. Project work is varied and mainly focussed on education and system development. Projects may not be known or allocated until the start of a placement, in addition, IGH Fellows do not provide direct clinical care.

IGH Fellows join a wider health team and have the opportunity to develop an understanding ofthe inter-dependencies between food security, housing, sanitation, clean water, education, transport and health. Whilst on placement, IGH Fellows aresupported by the local health team and additionallya UK-based Mentor.

Placement Costs

A stipend to coverthe essential living costsof each particular placement site is paid per calendar month for the period of the placement; this amount varies from £800 to no more than£1,000.
